Commonland recently developed a business model canvas specifically for business models that have a landscape approach and wish to deliver 4 returns. It can be found in the toolbox here. The purpose of a BMC is to transform a business idea into a business model. In the case of this model, it could also be used to innovate a traditional business model into a 4 returns model with a landscape approach.
While there are many canvasses out there already, an added value for 4 returns practitioners could be its communicative value. Colleagues working on 4 Returns business cases told us that they sometimes struggle to explain the added value of a 4 Returns company to their customers, and this canvas could help explain this. On the other hand, we received the feedback that the canvas could be a little too complicated in e.g. workshops with farmers on identifying new business cases.
These insights help us a lot in developing the canvas. Therefore, any other feedback is very welcome in this development phase.
