Description

There has never been a better time to get into farming. Despite the trends and beliefs permeating conventional agriculture you can earn a wholesome decent living with an unparalleled quality of life from farming, whilst serving your community with incredible food and regenerating soils and habitats at the same time. We are doing just that, from a very rural location at 59ºN in one of the most expensive and heavily regulated countries on the planet.

This is the most comprehensive online training run by a successful small farm by an experienced designer and educator available, and we have crafted this training specifically for those interested in pursuing profitable small scale regenerative agriculture.

Ridgedale has attracted great interest from all around the planet, and we are always keen to share our deep knowledge, experience, and passion for supporting others to get started in farming. This course details the approach and strategies of innovative farmer Richard Perkins, with over 80 hours of accompanying film shot at the farm from an ‘on the ground’ perspective to give you an intimate view of how we design, install, monitor and manage our diverse and profitable farm. We want to show you how to get started and have dedicated our lives to supporting others into the regenerative economy.

The course Chapters are based around our highly acclaimed book Making Small Farms Work. Each section has a downloadable .pdf Ebook chapter accompanied by video lectures and detailed videos walking you through how we do things at our farm; from running our on-farm poultry slaughter facility to planting Silvopasture systems and operating our No-Dig market gardens. We take you into the back end of planning and decision making, where it all happens, and guide you step by step so you can start smart. There are also downloadable spreadsheets for starting up your own enterprises, as well as links and resources for further research and consideration. If you are setting up a place for yourself, this training is designed to save you a lot of time and money by focusing directly on cost and time effective solutions from the start.

We serve as an educational hub and living demonstration of low-cost and quick-return, scalable, portable, regenerative complimentary enterprises. Our lives are dedicated to serving others to get off to a good start with a measured, realistic and diligent approach. We’re all about getting in done in a smart way using the resources at hand and managing our lives holistically to our unique time, place, circumstance and context.
