Description

The Soil Carbon Researcher will be delivering against a cutting-edge research program within the organization. The role involves leading projects that advance the understanding of stable microbial mediated carbon sequestration. The successful applicant will be working collaboratively across the organization on projects from the laboratory to the field focusing on the quantification of soil carbon into a range of agricultural systems.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Soil carbon research project management and delivery
  • Strategic input into the organization’s overall research program
  • Management of the day-to-day research collaborations with external organizations such as universities
  • Research project planning and development
  • Data and statistical interpretation and project reporting

 About You

To fit into the team perfectly you will have most of these attributes:

 

  • Ph.D. with a strong understanding of either soil carbon chemistry, fractionation, recalcitrance, or microbial-carbon dynamics.
  • 5 years of experience post-PhD in industry or research organizations.
  • Knowledge of the influence of agricultural land management practices on soil organic carbon dynamics.
  • Flexibility in approach to work – you will be required to direct day-to-day research, establish methods and processes for research and guide collaborative research
  • Ability to manage multiple projects nationally including budget tracking.
  • Confidence in working with large datasets, monitoring, verification, and reporting.
  • Ability to proactively engage with farmers when managing on-farm project sites.
  • Willingness to travel, nationally and internationally where required.

  • $90,000 – $105,000 plus super depending on skills and experience
