This study by OroVerde – Tropical Forest Foundation and the Global Nature Fund (GNF) gives an overview of existing Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) initiatives, their goals and the stakeholders involved. The emphasis is on promising solutions for common challenges in forest and landscape restoration. It describes key characteristics and best practices from privately funded restoration projects, providing pathways for all practitioners to replicate and scale up these concepts elsewhere.
Recommendations were developed based on four case studies from projects with investments or donations from the private sector in South Africa (Commonland & Living Lands), Kenya (Livelihoods Carbon Fund), Peru (Althelia Climate Fund) and the Dominican Republic (Barrick Colinas Bajas). These separate case studies can be found here.
