Facilitating Farmer Led Innovation
Join us for what promises to be an animated online session. The first half of the panel discussion will be facilitated by Lisa Williams van Dijk, Head of Knowledge Exchange and Research Support at Royal Agricultural University and facilitator of FLIN. There will then be an opportunity for you to ask questions live, but so we can make the most of the panel discussion, we’d love you to submit question ideas in advance.
- Russ Carrington, regenerative farming consultant and mentor, and former General Manager of the Pasture-Fed Livestock Association (PFLA) will be giving us a key note talk on the role of farmer networks to support farmers through change and how online forums, such as that used by the PFLA’s 600 strong membership, can facilitate knowledge exchange and innovation between farmers.
- This will be followed by a panel discussion with Kate Still, Farming Programme Delivery Manager at Soil Association, who leads the charities farming programmes, bringing farmers together to innovate, such as in FABulous Farmers (FAB) and RELACS, two European projects supporting farmers. With FAB in the transition to agroecological practices and RELACS with the reduction of contentious inputs.
- Also on our panel, Dr Lisa Morgans, Head of Precision Livestock at Innovation for Agriculture, and member of our Farmer Led Innovation Network (FLIN). Having completed her PhD utilising facilitation to drive farmer led innovation and policy to reduce antimicrobial use, Lisa is now working on DISARM, a thematic network across Europe aiming to reduce antibiotic resistance by reducing the need for antibiotics in livestock farming by focusing on disease prevention and prudent use of antibiotics.
- Dr Jessica Stokes, facilitator on the first Horizon 2020 EU Research and Innovation programme funded project Hennovation, will also be joining the panel. Jessica is passionate about all things facilitation, co-created and farmer led, using these values and tools within her animal welfare science and policy work at the Royal Agricultural University.
